The University of Houston Law Center hosts a residential summer prep program. (The program is currently hosted online because of COVID.).

The Scholar I Program is designed for students in their first two years of college. During the five week program, students take classes in a wide variety of legal subjects (civil procedure, constitutional law, contracts, legal writing, property, torts, and trial advocacy), all taught by law school faculty. To be considered for the program, students should be first-generation college students, low income, or members of groups underrepresented in the legal profession. Students must hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and must be in their first two years of college.

The Scholar II Program is designed for rising seniors. The Scholar II Program is an intensive, residential (pre-COVID) program focused on LSAT preparation. Students must register for the August/September LSAT for the beginning of their senior year. To be considered for the Scholar II track, students should be first generation college students, low income, or members of groups underrepresented in the legal profession. Students must hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and must have completed over 85 college credits by June of the year that the student is applying for admission to the program. Priority will be given to eligible students who have successfully completed the Program’s first track as well as students who are rising seniors, or students who have completed their third year in college.

The University of Houston Law Center programs do require some financial commitment, but they offer payment plans and scholarships.
